Memorial Planning

Cremation simplified

Core choices, timeline, and common terms.

Ask providers to define the service, not just quote the word

Cremation can mean very different things depending on whether the family wants direct cremation, a service before cremation, a memorial later, or extra transportation and merchandise. The word alone is not enough to compare offers.

When you call a provider, ask what is included in the quoted price, what permits or transportation fees are separate, and when the family can expect the remains to be returned.

Written clarity reduces both stress and surprise fees

Families are usually best served by getting the total in writing, clarifying timeline expectations, and confirming any decisions about witnesses, identification, temporary containers, urns, or ceremony logistics before signing.

Cremation can be the simplest path when the plan is clear. The stress comes when assumptions stay unspoken and the details only appear after the family already feels committed.
